Dalla nostra rubrica sui festival europei peschiamo magicamente il Nova Rock! Questo incredibile festival si tiene a Nickelsdorf, in Austria, dal 11-14 giugno 2025.
La line up è da far girare la testa: Slipknot, Wanda, Lorna Shore, Electric Callboy, Korn, The Ghost Inside, Iggy Pop, The Warning, Dead Poet Society, In Flames, Motionless in White, Knocked Loose, Apocalyptica,Jerry Cantell and more. Wow, siamo senza fiato!
Un festival che ogni anno porta sui palchi band di livello indiscusso, dal meglio della musica mondiale, per veri veri veri rockkettari. Volete saperne di più? Abbiamo raggiunto Gerold Haubner, parte dell’organizzazione, per farci raccontare meglio la storia (e le novità) di Nova Rock.
1) Quando e come è nata l’idea del primo festival Nova Rock?
Il nostro direttore del festival Ewald Tatar ha fondato Nova Rock nel 2005, quando la richiesta di grandi festival stava aumentando. Anche il desiderio di molte band importanti di suonare ai festival in Austria è aumentato sempre di più dall’inizio degli anni 2000, quindi avevamo bisogno di una nuova sede e di un nuovo festival per poter fare tutte queste cose.
2) Hai una line up enorme qui: Slipknot, Korn, Linkin Park ed Electric Callboy sono gli headliner. A parte loro, quale band dobbiamo tenere d’occhio?
Sicuramente Spiritbox, The Warning, Motionless in White, Jinjer, Lorna Shore, Refused, Landmvrks e naturalmente la mia band preferita di sempre della Nova Rock: i Wendi’s Böhmische Blasmusik.
3) Come si crea la line up del festival? Voglio dire, si esprimono desideri e si cerca di chiamare le band o… Come funziona?
Non sono né direttore del festival né booker, sono principalmente responsabile della promozione, ma ovviamente sono coinvolto fin dall’inizio del festival. Come ovunque, dipende dal mix, alcune band vengono proposte, altre ricevono un’attenzione speciale. È sempre stato importante per Nova Rock trovare un buon mix di artisti e stili, e pensiamo di esserci riusciti di nuovo nel 2025.
4) All’interno del festival, oltre ai concerti, cosa si può trovare?
Siamo orgogliosi da tempo del fatto di poter offrire anche ottimi prodotti gastronomici. La strada si è sempre allontanata dal tipico fast food, che naturalmente è disponibile anche perché richiesto dai visitatori, verso prodotti regionali e sostenibili. Alla “my burgenland Arena” cuciniamo cibo fresco ogni giorno e il nostro chef di punta Max Stiegl, che crea molti dei nostri piatti, è il più giovane chef al mondo ad aver mai ricevuto una stella Michelin. Questo è davvero straordinario. Naturalmente, ci sono anche tende per feste con diversi generi musicali, il nostro supermercato del festival e molte aree dei nostri partner, che arricchiscono ulteriormente il festival. Cerchiamo anche di migliorare la qualità del festival ogni anno in termini di campeggio silenzioso e pulito e campi sanitari.
5) Hai un messaggio per invitare le persone al Nova Rock 2025?
Siamo sempre stati una grande famiglia, dove tolleranza, rispetto, pacifica convivenza e amicizia svolgono un ruolo importante e razzismo, violenza, misoginia e sessismo non hanno posto. Cerchiamo di pensare in modo ecosostenibile e saremmo lieti se tutti voi voleste unirvi a noi in questo viaggio. Venite al Nova Rock Festival 2025 e convincetevi di grandi band e di un’atmosfera rilassata. 4 giorni di festival con oltre 80 band sui palchi Blue, Red e Red Bull e tanto divertimento sono garantiti. E la cosa migliore è che il campeggio e il parcheggio sono già inclusi nel prezzo del festival ed è anche facile arrivarci con i mezzi pubblici.

A festival that every year brings to the stage bands of undisputed level, from the best of world music, for true true true rockers. Want to know more? We reached Gerold Haubner, part of the organization, to have him tell us more about the history (and news) of Nova Rock.
1) When and how came the idea of the first Nova Rock festival?
Our festival director Ewald Tatar started Nova Rock in 2005 when the demand for big festivals was increasing. The desire of many important bands to play festivals in Austria has also increased more and more since the beginning of the 2000s, so we needed a new venue and a new festival to be able to do all these things.
2) You have a huge line up this here: Slipknot, Korn, Linkin Park and Electric Callboy are the headliners. Other than them which band do you with we have to keep an eye on?
Definitely Spiritbox, The Warning, Motionless in White, Jinjer, Lorna Shore, Refused, Landmvrks and of course my annual Nova Rock favorite band: Wendi’s Böhmische Blasmusik.
3) How do you create the line up of the festival? I mean, you make wishes and try to call the bands or..How does it work?
I’m neither festival director nor booker, I’m mainly responsible for the promotion, but of course I’ve been involved since the festival started. Like everywhere else, it depends on the mix, some bands are offered, others are given special attention. It has always been important for Nova Rock to find a good mix of acts and styles, and we think we’ve managed to do that again in 2025.
4) Inside the festival, other than concerts, what can people find?
We have long been proud of the fact that we can also offer great gastronomic products. The path has always led away from typical fast food, which is of course also available because visitors demand it, towards regional, sustainable products. At the “my burgenland Arena” we cook fresh food every day and our top chef Max Stiegl, who creates many of our dishes, is the youngest chef in the world to ever receive a Michelin star. That is quite extraordinary. Of course, there are also party tents with different music genres, our own festival supermarket and many areas of our partners, which further enhance the festival. We also try to improve the festival quality every year in terms of Silent & Clean Camping and the sanitary camps.
5) Do you have a message to people to invite them to Nova Rock 2025?
We have always been one big family, where tolerance, respect, peaceful coexistence and friendship play an important role and racism, violence, mysogyny and sexism have no place. We try to think in an environmentally conscious way and would be delighted if you all want to join us on this journey. Come to the Nova Rock Festival 2025 and convince yourself of great bands and a relaxed atmosphere. 4 days of festival with over 80 bands on the Blue, Red and Red Bull stages and lots of fun are guaranteed. And the best thing is, camping and parking are already included in the festival price and it’s also easy to get there by public transport.
