Intervista ad un’organizzatrice di INMusic Festival che si terrà a Zagabria dal 23 al 25 giugno
Abbiamo raggiunto Sara, una delle organizzatrici di INMusic Festival per farci raccontare un po’ la storia del festival e l’edizione 2025. (traduzione in italiano, sotto!)
We made an interview to Ana, one of the organizers of INMusic Festival.
1) When and how did the idea of the INmusic Festival come about?
The idea for INmusic Festival was born in 2006 by the non-governmental organization Multikultura after recognizing the need in the Croatian music scene for a large-scale international open-air festival. The first INmusic festival edition took place at Šalata, with renowned artists like Franz Ferdinand and Morrissey headlining the event. The festival quickly gained popularity, prompting a move to Lake Jarun in subsequent years to accommodate a growing audience and enhance the overall experience. This year, INmusic festival celebrates it’s 17th edition and 19 years of existance.
2) The Huffington Post referred to INmusic as “the Woodstock of the 21st Century.” Do you agree with this, and why do they call it that?
Being described as “the Woodstock of the 21st Century” by the Huffington Post is a significant honor. This comparison likely stems from INmusic’s commitment to fostering a sense of community, freedom, and musical diversity, reminiscent of the original Woodstock. The festival’s eclectic lineups, featuring a blend of established international acts and emerging artists across various genres, create an inclusive atmosphere that reflects the essence of Woodstock in a modern setting.
3) The festival takes place in the city center of Zagreb but in a particular venue. Can you tell us more about that?
INmusic festival is held on the picturesque isles of Lake Jarun, specifically the Isle of Youth, Trešnjevka Island, and Univerzijada Island. These locations offer a unique setting, combining the convenience of proximity to Zagreb’s city center with the natural beauty and tranquility of lakeside surroundings. Two of these islands are designated for festival campers, ensuring an immersive and unforgettable experience for attendees.
4) You always have very big international artists. Who’s going to play at INmusic 2025? Will there be some other big surprises in the next months?
INmusic festival #17 is set for June 23rd to 25th, with already announced incredible acts by the music greats Kings of Leon, Massive Attack, Air, Fontaines D.C., Michael Kiwanuka, St. Vincent, Foster the People, Kim Deal, and Yard Act, along with many more to follow. 5) Inside the festival, other than concerts, what can people find?

1) Quando e come è nata l’idea dell’INmusic Festival?
L’idea dell’INmusic Festival è nata nel 2006 dall’organizzazione non governativa Multikultura dopo aver riconosciuto la necessità nella scena musicale croata di un festival internazionale all’aperto su larga scala. La prima edizione dell’INmusic Festival si è tenuta a Šalata, con artisti di fama come Franz Ferdinand e Morrissey come headliner dell’evento. Il festival ha rapidamente guadagnato popolarità, spingendolo a trasferirsi al lago Jarun negli anni successivi per accogliere un pubblico in crescita e migliorare l’esperienza complessiva. Quest’anno, l’INmusic Festival celebra la sua 17a edizione e 19 anni di esistenza.
2) L’Huffington Post ha definito l’INmusic “la Woodstock del 21° secolo”. Sei
d’accordo con questo, e perché lo chiamano così?
Essere descritti come “la Woodstock del 21° secolo” dall’Huffington Post è un onore significativo. Questo paragone probabilmente deriva dall’impegno di INmusic nel promuovere un senso di comunità, libertà e diversità musicale, che ricorda il Woodstock originale. Le proposte eclettiche del festival, che presentano un mix di artisti internazionali affermati e artisti emergenti di vari generi, creano un’atmosfera inclusiva che riflette l’essenza di Woodstock in un ambiente moderno.
3) Il festival si svolge nel centro di Zagabria, ma in un luogo particolare. Puoi raccontarci di più?
Il festival INmusic si tiene sulle pittoresche isole del lago Jarun, in particolare l’isola di Youth, l’isola di Trešnjevka e l’isola Univerzijada. Queste location offrono un ambiente unico, che unisce la comodità della vicinanza al centro di Zagabria con la bellezza naturale e la tranquillità dei
